Obtaining tensor-polarized nuclei with spin $S\ge1$ via spin filtering upon nuclear beam transmission through an unpolarized target (spin dichroism effect)

RESUMO

Upon transmission through an unpolarized target initially unpolarized nuclei with spin $S\ge1$ acquire tensor polarization due to spin dichroism effect. For nuclei passing several nuclear lengths in the target, the acquired component $p_{zz}$ can reach substantial values of ~0.2-0.8. The beam obtained in this way can be effectively used to study reactions with tensor-polarized nuclei.
